Alaskans for Fair Courts is evaluating our collective successes in Alaska’s recent judicial retention elections. We will continue to ensure that Alaskans are better informed about our judiciary and the invaluable selection and retention system that benefits us all.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to all of you who took the time to advocate on behalf of the judges who serve your district – and to vote accordingly. Thanks to your good citizenship, all 19 of Alaska’s state judges who stood for retention this year will continue to serve Alaska!

We are proud to report that after a 24-year downward trajectory of judicial retention YES votes in the Third Judicial District, the numbers are climbing back up! Of the 19 judges and justices on the ballot statewide, 9 garnered at least 60% of the YES votes, if not higher.

Alaskans clearly voted their values by retaining judges who serve with integrity, follow the law, and do not bow to political pressures when making judicial decisions.

You can take pride in knowing that anyone who walks into an Alaska state courtroom will stand before a judge with the qualifications, experience, and proven disposition to decide cases fairly and impartially based on the law and the facts … not public opinion or the influence of money and/or partisan politics.

With your ongoing support, our goal is to continue protecting the integrity, impartiality, and independence of the judges who serve the citizens of Alaska. Please continue to support our ongoing work – we cannot continue without you!
